About the area

Down New South Head Road

Edgecliff takes its name from the rocky cliff face that was quarried in the suburb's early days of European settlement. It sits about 4km east of the Sydney CBD, wrapped around the Edgecliff Centre and Edgecliff Eastpoint, the shopping and transport hub built above Edgecliff railway station.

The station opened in 1979 on the Eastern Suburbs Line, with trains every 3 to 5 minutes at peak times and a bus interchange on the roof, making Edgecliff the easiest jumping off point for Double Bay, Woollahra, Paddington and Darling Point.

From Edgecliff Station, it's about a 5 minute walk down New South Head Road to Rushcutters Bay Park (roughly 0.9km, straight-line).
